Downtown Manhattan, which is also known as Lower Manhattan, is the southernmost part of Manhattan. Downtown is the central borough for culture, business and government in New York City which in 1624, originated at the southern tip of Manhattan Island.
The statue of liberty is a huge neoclassical sculpture found on the Liberty Island in New York Harbour in New York City. The Statue of Liberty is made out of copper and was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi who is a French sculptor. It was built by Gustave Eiffel and dedicated on 28th of October 1886. The copper statue was a gift from the French people to the United States. The statue is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, who is the Roman goddess who carries a torch and a tabula ansata which upon it there is written the date of the American Declaration of Independence July 4th, 1776. At her feet, lies a broken chain. The State of Liberty is a symbol of freedom and of the United States. It is mainly a welcoming sights to tourists.
The total overall height from the base of the pedestal foundation to the tip of the torch is 305 feet, 6 inches. While the height of the Statue from her heel to the top of her head is 111 feet, 6 inches. The total weight of the Statue of Liberty is 225 tons equivalent to 450,000 pounds.

Travelling by subway or simply Hop on Hop off Bus gets you there easily. After you can head over to Battery Park and catch a ferry to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. The estimated time taken to see both locations and come back is 3 hours. Visit the Fraunces Tavern Museum for a more historical experience in NYC. You can alternatively head north towards Wall Street and you might be able to jump on the Wall Street Walking tour of possibly visit the Museum of American Finance.
